Splash Mash Dash - Sprint Triathlon

Northridge Splash Mash Dash Returning to the Series this year is the HRCA Splash-Mash-Dash Triathlon on August 9th. This multi sport race starts with a unique 800-yard indoor/outdoor swim at the Recreation Center at Northridge, followed by a 13 mile bike ride through the streets of Highlands Ranch, and culminates in a 3.5 mile run through a challenging, cross-country type network of trails.

 

Because the number one violent crime in Douglas County is domestic violence, this event raises money for The Womens Crisis and Family Outreach Center. This organization is dedicated to significantly reducing domestic violence and family conflict through advocacy, empowerment, violence prevention, intervention services and education.

Pre-Race Day Packet Pick-up: Friday August 8th from 3pm-7pm at the Recreation Center at Northridge. There will be 2 pre-race informational meetings during packet pickup. The first meeting is at 4:30pm and the second is at 6:30pm. It will be a good idea to attend the meeting for important race information.

Pre-Race Informational Clinic: Wednesday August 6th at 6pm in the Wetterhorn room at Northridge. Heath Adcock, the Race Director, will go over "Do's & Don'ts" for race day and will hold a "walk through" of the course.

Start Times: Start times will be announced during packet pick up on Friday night. We recommend that you arrive one hour prior to your start time. Transition area opens at 5am.

We now have an official hotel for our triathlon participants! The Hilton Garden Inn is located in Highlands Ranch. They are offering special discounted rates to race participants. Please call 1-877-StayHGI or go to www.stayhgi.com to make your reservation.

Sprint Triathlon Distances: .45 mile indoor/outdoor swim, 13 mile bike ride, 3.5 mile run
Location: The Recreation Center at Northridge (8801 South Broadway Highlands Ranch, CO 80126) take C-470 to the Broadway Exit. Proceed South on Broadway. The recreation center will be approximately one-half mile from C-470 on your left-hand side)

Parking: Additional parking will be available across the street from the Recreation Center at the churches. Look for "Race Parking" signs.

Swim:
  The swim is a unique 800-yard indoor/outdoor swim.  Racers will swim 17 lengths (one length = one distance of the pool) in the indoor pool. They will go up 2 sets of stairs and  then proceed out the door to the outdoor pool. They will swim 15 lengths in the outdoor pool.  Once finished they will continue out the gate to the transition area.

Bike:  This portion of the race is a 13 mile bike ride through the streets of Highlands Ranch.  Please keep in mind the bike course is open to traffic.There will be police officers and volunteers on site to direct traffic. The bike route will end in the transition area. Please note, the bike course is a 2 loop course. (see course maps section)

Run:  Participants will exit the transition area from the opposite side of the bike entrance/exit to continue throught the final leg of the race for a 3.5 mile run through a challenging, cross-country type network of trails on the back side of Northridge. Course will be clearly marked.
